Top 5 Maps and Navigation Apps on Android in Africa - Q3 2022

During the third quarter of 2022, the top Maps and Navigation apps on Android in Africa showcased varying trends in downloads and active user metrics. Here, we look at the performance of the top five apps: inDrive. Save on city rides, Bolt: Request a Ride, Yango — different from a taxi, Uber - Request a ride, and DiDi Rider: Affordable rides. inDrive. Save on city rides saw a consistent increase in weekly downloads, starting from 151K at the end of June and peaking at nearly 181K by the last week of September. Active users fluctuated but ended the quarter with a substantial rise from 995K to around 1.12M.

Bolt: Request a Ride experienced steady weekly downloads, beginning at 131K and concluding at approximately 134K. Active users showed an upward trend, starting at 2.10M and peaking at 2.14M by the end of September.

Yango — different from a taxi had notable fluctuations in weekly downloads, reaching a high of 128K in mid-July before dropping to around 79K by the end of September. Active users increased overall, starting at 122K and ending the quarter at nearly 194K.

Uber - Request a ride maintained a steady download rate, beginning at 80K and peaking at 111K in early September, before settling at approximately 88K by the end of the month. Active users displayed a slight decline, from 2.47M to 2.39M over the quarter.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides saw a downward trend in weekly downloads, starting at 101K and dipping to around 61K by the end of September. Active users similarly decreased from 289K to 279K over the same period.
